Northern Lights Forecast

nlf — Norther Lights Forecast 🔗 sends alerts to the telegram bot @NorthernLightsForecastBot whenever there are good chances of seeing northern lights near Tromsø. The program itself can actually check the conditions in a number of places (see the full list by running nlf --locations), but the instance I have running on a raspberry pi that updates telegram is looking only at Tromsø. Install and run your own version by cloning and installing with poetry:

git clone https://github.com/engeir/northern-lights-forecast.git
poetry install
# Install tesseract and create a telegram bot, then run
nlf -l Tromsø

The reMarkable Splashscreens 🔗 repository is a collection of screen savers that I use for my reMarkable tablet. It looks a bit nicer than the quite boring screen savers that are there by default.

Rich NcDump

Rich NcDump is a repository made to be able to quickly preview netCDF files. It is useful when you just want to see the metadata, and it is packaged with pip!

To install, you can simply do

pip install ncdump-rich

or even better, by using pipx which installs it in a nice, isolated environment:

pipx install ncdump-rich

If you are like me and you think browsing through your files is a lot easier in a terminal file manager compared to Finder, Nautilus and so on, then this previewer fits perfectly into the previwing plugins that exists for for example nnn and lf.
